3 Sneaky Ways to Fit Some Outdoor Exercise into Your Workday

  If you are a busy parent, it can be very hard to get your workout in when you return home from work.

Yet, we all know how important exercise is for our health. In fact, research shows that for adults it’s important to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Not only does it help you stay fit, it is also a great mood booster.

Here are three sneaky ways to get outside and get some exercise in during your lunch break.

  1. Walk for it. Map a restaurant that’s just far enough from the office to walk and get lunch, and then walk back. You might have to time the workout a few times to get it right, but once you find a few spots, it’s a fun way to mix up your lunchtime routine.
  2. Take the stairs. Before eating lunch, hit the stairs. Spend 10 minutes walking up and down a few flights, which gets your muscles burning.
  3. Walk and chat. Instead of meeting a friend for lunch, plan a power walk that takes you on a 30-minute trek around the city. It’s a fun break to take while catching up. Pick a route that keeps you moving, and then return to your desk for a quick bite.

Make sure to bring comfortable shoes or, better yet, store an extra pair at your office desk so you don’t have to worry about bringing them in every day.
